This is a picture of the Sand Neck. Between the island that the lighthouse is on and the rest of Vancouver Island is a bit of land called the Sand Neck. Basically it is a huge sand pile that is built up there because the old settlers built a fence to trap the sand as it is washed ashore. Also, the First Nations of the area used to have battles on this land and soon came to believe that this neck was haunted.
